You are invited...HTAB Report to the Community

HTAB invites you to attend our Report to the Community Event, on February 17, 2011 from 2:30 pm. to 4:30 pm. at Liuna Station. 

Learn about HTAB activities during 2010 and listen to a keynote address by Dr. Rick Miner, author of the recent report, "People Without Jobs, Jobs Without People."

rick minerDr. Miner, President Emeritus at Seneca College and President of Miner and Miner Management Consultants will discuss "Canada's Labour Market: Jobs with a Future."

His presentation will address the dual trends of an aging population and the need for a more educated workforce.  Dr. Miner will provide advice about how labour shortages and higher level of unemployment can be avoided, a direction for preparing for the jobs of the future, and the role that communities will need to take in both these processes.

This event is free of charge.  Our partner is Mohawk College.

HTAB's Monthly Workforce Survey for Employers

interview Are you a local employer who cares about Hamilton's labour market issues?  If so, we encourage you to take part in our monthly Workforce Survey.

The next survey will open on February 8, 2011 and the results will be released on Febraury 11, 2011. 

It is not intended to be a representative sample of Hamilton's monthly labour market changes.  Rather the survey will provide a snapshot of workforce trends as reported by the participants. 

This survey is also being conducted across southwestern Ontario in partnership with other local workforce planning and development boards.

Labour Market Bulletin, June 2010

Our latest Labour Market Bulletin provides an update on HTAB's recent consultations with local employers which focused on their skills recruitment and training challenges. 

The bulletin also lists Hamilton's top five occupations, and provides detailed National Occupational Classification (NOC) information.

Congrats to Sharon Marafon, YWCA Women of Distinction Award Winner

Congratulations to HTAB Board member, Sharon Marafon, Marafon Consulting, who was awarded the YWCA Women of Distinction Award in the category of Mentoring & Education at a gala awards evening on Tuesday, May 4, 2010.
